Talk about unconventional and Indian weddings these two are far more apart than one can expect. Indian weddings are known across the globe for their oomph, glam and larger than life celebrations. Thankfully, not all Indian Weddings follow the popular route and some are as unique as a blue diamond.
You think you have seen all that’s unconventional this year? Wait until you check out this Surreal Destination Wedding in Broken Moon Land and it also happens to be the First Ever Destination Wedding in Ladakh at Pangong Lake. Need we mention it’s the same picturesque location from 3 Idiots where Kareena in her Bridal Avatar went all the way to find the love of her life?
It is said the best love story is when you fall in love with the most unexpected person and at the most unexpected time. Two Filmmakers, both avid Riders and a road trip to Scotland this is how destiny brought Shachi and Rikhil together and hence the beginning of their beautiful journey.
When Shachi and Rikhil decided to get married, it definitely wasn’t going to something traditional or in that matter something that was ever done before. Who doesn’t wish to go to the scenic Ladakh once in a lifetime? So they made it a lifetime affair for themselves by getting married at 16000 Ft with just the people that meant the world to them and their bikes.
Gosh!!! How does one pull off a wedding with so much beauty at a place that’s metamorphically and literally unconventional to host a wedding? Let’s have a look at these wedding pictures with Ladakh in all its glory. Pictures are proof that it’s one hell of a fun wedding.
This 10 days celebration had just 60 guests in attendance which included only their families and closest of friends. To acclimatize the guests to the temperature and high altitude conditions 3 days of pre-wedding festivities were held at The Silk Route, Leh before moving over to Pangong Lake for the wedding. The guests were given a warm welcome with the Traditional Ladakhi Dance and evenings were lit with bonfire and dance.
For the wedding, the entourage headed over to the Pangong Lake riding bikes to witness the beautiful wedding under the mandap that was made of traditional prayer flags. The couple was quite sure to not let their wedding interfere with the pristine Pangong Lake beauty & decided on not to have any fancy decorations that would pollute the environment and opted for prayer flags that matched the vibe and the beauty of the place. Looking at the pictures we must say it’s a scenic mandap and it’s pure bliss. The troop settled for 2 days at The Pangong Sarai & The Pangong Hermitage at Pangong Lake.
The wedding outfits that Shachi and Rikhil wore at their wedding too were in absolute sync with the location and themselves. While the bride wore a self-designed red and white lehenga, the groom wore white Sherwani with dhoti pants. The two later teamed up their jackets from ASOS with their outfit to beat the chilly evenings.
It’s not over yet, post the wedding the troop headed for a 3 day trip to Hundar and Nubra Valley. It was a complete 10 days trip not just for the bride & groom but the guests as well.
The wedding has been shot, planned and conceptualized by A Knotty Tale.
While the wedding was a full on fun affair, it had its own challenges in planning a wedding of a lifetime. The biggest challenge was finding a place that would provide a cosy environment to the guests with heating arrangements. Also, the guests were of all age groups and the group was travelling from 11,000 to 18,000 ft throughout the trip so need to take due care of the travel arrangements.
