A simple yet elegant look from UBTAN Ceremony
For Ubtan Ceremony, the bride picked lovely saree from her mother trousseau. She kept her look minimal & graced the outfit with her beautiful smile. Brides-to-be, you too can pick any ensemble from your mom’s trousseau and impress everyone with your enchanted looks.
Vibrant Sangeet Ceremony with Oodles of Fun
“Since this was a cross-cultural wedding with the groom from South India and the bride from the North. The wedding ceremony was going to be conducted according to Tam-Brahm customs, so we decided to bring the traditional Northern flavor in full force for the Sangeet function. This way both the cultures were reflected in the wedding ceremonies. North Indian weddings are all about vibrant colors, bright clothes, and traditional jewelry and that is what reflected in our Sangeet theme.”
“The dress quote for the sangeet ceremony was “all gotta“ and our guests dressed in attires with gotta appliques. The Gotta jewelry such as maang-tikka & bangles were given out as Sangeet favors. We wanted our pictures to be richly hued and well-coordinated and the idea worked wonders for us.”

Matchy – Matchy with the bride – #SisterGoals
“We both wanted outfits that aren’t too heavy or gaudy as it was a day function with lots of dancing involved. We chose THE FREE LIVING STORE and AACHO for our outfits as they had the perfect gotta work suits and anarkalis in cotton fabric which were bright, comfortable & matched our “all gotta” theme perfectly. Red, pink and yellow are the most traditional colors in a North Indian wedding and hence they were our obvious choices. We got our jewelry customized online on Amazon in similar shades to get the perfectly coordinated outfits on a budget.”

We choose to go with colorful pallazo pants paired with comfy t-shirts and chunky jewelry to complete the boho look. Moreover, we also wore personalized mehendi badges. We added Fanciful dream catchers, neon painted curios, hand-painted flowers, tinsel tassels & funky quotes printables were included in the decor to bring out bohemian vibes.”

“An all-nighter party without good food is incomplete & if it matches the theme of the party it surely means double the fun! We got customized cupcakes from ROLLING PINS BY SHWETA to be our midnight party fuel. Shweta delivered the prettiest looking cupcakes in mehendi theme with dholkis, cushions, chudis, gajras and mehendi cones on it. Needless to say, we finished them all!”

Inspiration Behind DIY Wedding Planning
“The inspiration was a combination of design control and saving money. I and my sister have had a creative bone since childhood and DIYing my sister’s wedding ceremonies was like a dream for me. With Pinterest and Instagram being so handy these days the task wasn’t difficult. We just needed to be clear about the theme and the idea we wanted to put on the show. The Internet is full of amazing DIY ideas, making a gruel of them won’t be a nice plan. We were clear that we wanted our sangeet to be colorful, match with the gotta theme and should be easy to install. The prime props we used were colorful kites from the local shop, gotta flowers to them to match the theme, painted bottles with gotta flowers on sticks, meters of colorful dupattas for the ceiling, matkis in different sizes & lots of flowers. “
Enjoyable Moments from Sister’s Wedding Planning
“Since day one, I was in my COMMANDER IN CHIEF mode and had my phone’s memory full with screenshots of dresses and decors. The best part about that time was that we got to spend time with each other over long phone conversations discussing and choosing the best for her. Having been the younger one pampered by my sister all my life, I never knew I was capable of the “You sleep, I’ll work” attitude. Also, I got the power to boss around decorators, relatives, and friends in the name of the bride. Who wouldn’t love that? “
So this was the beautiful timeline of our blogger bridesmaid’s sister wedding. You too can grab the ideas from Pinterest & Instagram and can DIY your wedding function without breaking the bank.
