But that gorgeous-looking hair does not fall into one’s lap easily. The equation of gorgeous hair is care added to nutrition minus the unhealthy lifestyle and the result is multiplied by love. So we need to remember this simple equation and we will have gorgeous-looking hair. And for those who are going to tie the knot soon, it is a must-follow equation. The paparazzi will not let your hair tresses go unnoticed in those beautiful portraits.
Hair Care Regime
Care is a small word with magical effects. How many times has it happened to you that you warned your hair to look good but it didn’t listen? Well with a little care of the hair you can turn it into you sincere student who will never disappoint you. So here is the step-by-step guide.
Combing
We all have been combing our hair, but do we do it the right way? Always start combing your hair from bottom to top. This helps in removing tangles very easily and results in less hair fall. If we comb the hair starting from the scalp we end up making bunch of tangles at the tips of our hair resulting in hair breakage so the correct technique is moving upwards. Also, be very careful in choosing the hair comb or hair brush some combs and brushes have too sharp bristles and they may hurt you. Generally, a wide-toothed comb or a paddle brush is used for detangling the hair and a normal comb is used for smoothening out the hair.
Oiling
Oiling is food for the Hair. Oiling provides the hair with the nourishment it requires to stay healthy and grow. It is a one-stop solution to hair problems such as breakage, split ends, dryness, flaking, graying, and thinning. Our scalp naturally produces some oil to keep the hair healthy at times the oils may be produced in excess leading to oily hair and scalp. So not a large amount of oil is required only a little amount of oil is required to nourish the hair. If you have an oily scalp it doesn’t mean oiling is not required but it is required to restore the oil-producing sebaceous glands to normal. Do not let the oil stay longer than 24 hours on the hair as it attracts dirt. Do hair Champi or massage overnight or at least 1 hour before washing off your hair. Always massage with warm oil for best results and do not rub the hair against your palm while applying oil. Instead, apply with the help of your fingertips or you can also use a cotton ball and later massage with the fingertips. There is a number of oils each with its own benefits suited for different hair types.
Shampooing
Shampooing the hair at the right time, with the right amount and right technique is extremely important for the hair along with choosing the right shampoo for the hair. Whenever you shampoo the hair give hair an oil massage.
What’s the Right Time
It definitely depends on the type of hair you have.
Dry Hair: Wash your hair twice or at the maximum thrice a week. Do not wash it frequently as it will make your hair lose its moisture and result in split ends and coarse hair.
Oily Hair and Greasy Hair: You may need to wash your hair off daily as the release of excess oil on the scalp attracts dust and dirt particles leading to dandruff.
Normal Hair: People with normal hair can wash their hair on alternate days to remove the dust and dirt from the scalp.
The Right Amount
Do not use a lot of shampoos, using larger quantities of shampoo doesn’t make the hair shinier. Take just a sufficient amount of shampoo for your hair, long hairs do need more of it. If you have oiled the hair you may need to rinse and repeat the shampoo. But do not repeat the shampoo if it cleans in the first wash itself.
The Right Technique
You have all visited the salon doesn’t it feel good when they wash off your hair with the right technique
- Rinse: Rinse off the hair with lukewarm water do not use hot water even if it is winter. Hot water damages the hair and makes the scalp dry and flaky. Warm wetter helps open up the pores on your scalp and lets your products perform better. Whereas cold water closes the open pores.
- Shampoo: Take the right amount of shampoo and start massaging the shampoo from the roots to the tips. Remember your scalp needs more shampoo than the tips as the youngest hair is on the scalps and the oldest on the tips. Gently massage the hair in circular motions and do not rub the hair from the tips to the scalp as it causes friction leading to split ends and damaged hair .
- Rinse the shampoo with cold water and check if the oil and dirt have been removed. If not then repeat the shampoo and rinse
Conditioning
Just like shampooing, conditioning also has a technique. First, you need to squeeze out water from your hair and then apply the conditioner. For oily and normal hair do not apply conditioner to the roots for dry condition roots as well as the tips. Leave in the conditioner for 2 to 5 minutes and then wash off. For dry hair choose hydrating thick creamy conditioners, For Oily Hair use lightweight clear conditioners.
Deep Conditioning
With continuous use of styling products and treatments, hair becomes dry and frizzy if you are a regular user of styling products do deep conditioning once a week. Else once or twice a month deep conditioning the hair is good. It’s just simply just wash off your hair, use a deep conditioning hair mask after your conditioner applies to the hair leave it on for 10 minutes and wash it off. You can also go for deep conditioning using a warm towel after applying the product or can use a hair dryer on low heat to steam up the hair. Deep conditioning will leave your hair silky and shiny. There are many available in the market varying for all hair types also you can indulge in these Homemade Hair Masks.
Hair Drying
Let the hair dry naturally do not use a blow dry unless it’s extremely important. . Also do not dry your hair upside down with the help of towel strokes. It poses a lot of damage to the hair. Also, don’t dry the hair aggressively with a towel be gentle.
Don’t sleep with open hair
How pretty our favourite actress looks while sleeping with open hair in movies? And we religiously follow them brushing our hair well and leaving them open and just going off to sleep. Well, the reality is a little different though brushing the hair before sleeping is good but leaving them open is not. But why not? Remember girls when you wake up sleeping with open hair it’s not a good sight with hair all mismanaged and some may even be falling on our pillow covers. This is because of friction between the hair which causes breakage leaving them extremely frizzy. So it’s good to put your hair in pleats before sleeping.
Trimming
Trimming your hair when required. Trimming down your hair helps keep the hair healthy. If you are using heat on your hair quite frequently it leaves split ends and it is better to get rid of them so go out and get a trim. Get trim once in three months or depending on the condition of the hair.
So here we are a step closer each day to gorgeous looking here if we care for them, the way we take care of ourselves. It is said, “Invest in your hair it’s the crown you never take off “. So girls it’s time we start investing time in our hair care, to be crowned with a shiny crown.
