Meet Our South Indian Bride & Maharashtrian Groom

How we met:

“We met in college in the 2nd year. 9 years back hosting for a college event struck for us. He told me that he first saw me on a bus stop and something changed in him and persuaded the class representative that he wanted to co-host the event with me. He took my number from a classmate to discuss about the script. The person who shared my number told him that she has an attitude problem and will never pick up your call and even if she does she won’t talk properly.

To everybody’s dismay, I received his call and agreed to co-host with him. Even though I was good at writing scripts, I asked him to prepare the entire script and he did it. He asked me to just have a look at the script and come for practice but I never turned up for the practice. He thought I was weird and even I thought the same about him. But our perceptions of each other changed as time passed by and now he has become that Chandler to my Monica. I had finally found my person, my crowd and my comfort despite of the differences we share.”- says the bride.

“Who doesn’t dream of a Bollywood sequence when its about witnessing a cross-cultural wedding?  That’s exactly how a vivacious South Indian girl found a soulmate in her Maharashtrian friend. We dated almost for about 9 years before taking a final plunge, crossing all the hurdles for our happily ever after. Yes, you are right ours was an intimate 2 states wedding with close family and friends.

Our Friends always impelled us in believing that we will go a long way and came up with a cool hashtag for us i.e #Misalidli. Despite of the cultural barriers we share our parents and family without any prejudice accepted it wholeheartedly and made it so pure and easy for us through the entire process. The fusion-wedding was full of elements from Maharashtrian and Tulu Bunts weddings.”- says the bride.

Quirky Wedding Invite

“I always wanted to add a personal touch to my wedding, so I curated and did many things on my own. I created a fun e-invite on my own using the Canva app.”- says Rakshita.

Wedding Festivities

“Our was a 2 days affair of intimate 2 states wedding with close friends and family. On the first day, we had a haldi function with Maharashtrian touch to it with floral decoration and in the evening we had a DJ night for friends to dance their heart out. The second day commenced with a ‘Tulu Bunt” south Indian wedding. At first, we had Muhuratham rituals followed by Kanyadanam. All our friends and cousins decided to get dressed up in south Indian attire.”- says the bride.

Haldi

“For Haldi, the groom chose to wear a simple white kurta-pyjama paired with a yellow cross-buttoned jacket. While I wore a simple orange-yellow lehenga which I bought from a local shop from Mangaldas Market, Mumbai. I also DIY’d my haldi floral jewelry by taking inspiration from various wedding blogs.”- says the bride.

Sangeet

“For Sangeet Ashutosh wore a hangup Jodhpuri bandhgala jacket designed & stitched by “HMT Tailor, Nasik”. And I choose to wear pastel light turquoise ( blue shade) chikankari lehenga with an off-shoulder sequin blouse and tassels. The outfit was bought from ” Zeil Couture, Dadar”.”- says the bride.

“We purchased a Silk Mundu Veshti from the ” Nalli Silks, Mahalakshmi” and got it stitched from “HMT Tailor, Nasik”. I wore authentic bridal kanjeevaram sarees purchased from “ Geethanjali Silks, Udupi” and the silk maggam blouses were designed by me & stitched from local tailors.”- says the bride.
